Jacqui Christian,
a seventh-generation descendant of
Fletcher Christian,
leader of the Mutiny on the Bounty, was born on Pitcairn Island and is the eldest
daughter of
Tom
and
Betty Christian. Ms. Christian was educated on Pitcairn and in New
Zealand. After graduating from Otago University with a Bachelor of
Pharmacy, she opened and operated Kanwal Pharmacy in New South Wales in the
mid-1990s. She has a keen interest in both business and health, holding
qualifications in Polynesian massage and Chinese acupuncture.
After returning home to Pitcairn in 2006, Ms. Christian assisted in
restructuring the government of Pitcairn Islands as both a civil servant and an
elected member of the
Pitcairn
Island
Council. She and her partner,
Leslie Jacques OBE,
both of whom live on Pitcairn Island, created Pitcairn Travel to develop
the Pitcairn tourism industry.
